Batehaven sits on the Tasman Sea about four kilometres south-east of Batemans Bay, along Beach Road, with Corrigans Beach at its centre and Catalina, Sunshine Bay and Surf Beach around it. Beach Road carries the local shops and cafes, and the residential streets run back from the water on either side.

Building near the water here means designing for salt air, wind and sun. We choose materials, fixings and finishes that stand up to coastal exposure, and set the home out to catch the view and the winter sun at the same time, which on an east-facing coastal block takes careful planning. Blocks closer to bushland may carry a bushfire (BAL) rating. We prepare a preliminary BAL assessment in-house during design, and bring in an accredited BPAD consultant where the site needs one.
